2002 started as a "difficult" year. It rained a lot! We resisted picking early, and were rewarded with a dry autumn and, eventually, good ripeness in our fruit. We were able to keep our Semillon on the vines for a prolonged period to give very high sugar levels for making a sweet wine.
Our 2002 wines were maturing in French oak barrels. Our wine responds well to high quality French oak, which offers slow development of added complexity to reward the patient winemaker.
